No shame, watched the Speed Racer movie a few nights ago. Still love it. Haters can...

I will say, knowing what I now know about Emile Hirsch being an abusive prick, didn’t really taint the movie for me. His acting was horrible to begin with. But he is supported by such an awesome cast that all did fantastic.

I haven't seen it but there is a growing chorus out there saying that the movie is a misunderstood gem.

It’s not a gritty, live-action version of the cartoon; it is the cartoon, acted out in live-action. I realize that is not a style that appeals to everybody, but I enjoyed it for that aspect. Realism has no place in this movie; nor do physics or psychology. It is silly and campy, and unapologetic ally so. Visually, it is like an orgasm from a kaleidoscope .

I haven’t really followed his work; he just happened to play Speed Racer. Had anyone else played Speed Racer, I would never know who Emile Hirsch is.
